Today Shane William Wright, 44, of Newark, Ohio was sentenced to 23 years in prison for
crimes against children. Wright was adjudicated guilty on thirteen counts of Possession of Child
Pornography and one count of Attempted Sexual Performance of a Child.
The defendant was visiting a friend’s family in Lee County in 2019. He solicited a child in an
attempt to get nude photographs. The victim told a family member. The Lee County Sheriff’s
Office was called and apprehended Wright. During their investigation, deputies found child
pornography on his computer tablet and phone.
Wright’s prison sentence will be followed by 10 years of Sex Offender Probation. He was also
designated a Lifetime Sexual Offender.
