Jean Jerome Dorlus, 60, of Naples, was found guilty of 20 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, following a three-day trial in Collier County. The jury returned the guilty verdict last night.
The case was opened in August 2018 when a person witnessed illegal sexual images on the defendant’s phone of a young girl engaged in a sexual act. That person used their phone to capture some of the images and took them straight to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to report the crime.
Detectives with the Special Victims Unit began an investigation and located the defendant. During an interview, the defendant admitted having the illegal images on his personal phone. The child victim was identified and was safe.
Collier County Circuit Court Chief Assistant State Attorney Deborah Cunningham and Collier County Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney James Stewart prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for March 28th.
