Drug Enforcement Announcement

Today State Attorney Amira Fox announces the creation of a Narcotics and Vice Unit for the Lee County Felony Division of the State Attorney’s Office, thanks to the Lee County Board of Commissioners, as well as Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

“Commissioners Kevin Ruane, Cecil Pendergrass, Ray Sandelli, Brian Hamman, and Frank Mann, are to be commended for their attention to the need to eradicate the trafficking of the poison narcotics, such as fentanyl, in our community, with their decision to provide needed funding to prosecute those who choose to traffic in illegal narcotics. I also want to thank Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno for his incredible partnership and support in obtaining this additional narcotics funding from Lee County,” said State Attorney Fox.

“The money provided will go directly to staffing our new Lee County Narcotics and Vice Unit. This Unit will also handle any Lee County cases that result from our Narcotics Enforcement Task Force known as NETFORCE,” said State Attorney Fox.

NETFORCE was created in 2019 by State Attorney Fox to coordinate a circuit-wide approach to identifying, investigating, and dismantling long-term organized crime, narcotics, racketeering, and money-laundering criminal enterprises.

“I want the citizens of Lee County, and the entire 20th Judicial Circuit, to know that the sale of illegal narcotics in our community will not be tolerated and will be met with prosecution. Drugs infiltrating our area, negatively impact our community in many ways, which is why I stand fast with my partners in law enforcement, and county leaders, in a united front, to combat this issue head on,” said State Attorney Fox.
