Life in Prison for Crimes Against a Child

This morning, Yormis Perez Gonzalez, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation by a Person 18 Years of Age or Older, Victim Less Than 12 Years of Age. The defendant was found guilty in November 2022, following a jury trial in Collier County.

In February 2020, the Special Crimes Bureau of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation, after being contacted by a person who saw a young child exhibit unusual behaviors. This alerted an adult to possible abuse. Their investigation determined the child had been molested by Gonzalez and he was arrested.

Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Brown and Assistant State Attorney Lawrence Raab prosecuted the case.
