In 2020 the defendant called 911 claiming a woman had a seizure and needed medical help. Upon arrival at a residence, emergency first responders observed injuries on the victim and doctors later discovered head wounds, significant internal injuries, and evidence that she had been beaten previously over an extended period of time.
The Fort Myers Police Department opened a criminal investigation and found evidence that the defendant had previously beaten the woman while pregnant, causing a miscarriage. There was also evidence determining that the defendant physically abused four young children at the residence.
Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo, Special Victims Unit Chief, and Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller of the Homicide Unit prosecuted the case.
