Guillermo Martinez Cruz was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by lifetime Sex Offender Probation, for two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. The defendant was also designated a Sexual Predator.
An investigation about a possible criminal act involving the defendant started in 2021. The victim was having trouble in school and an employee of the school began asking questions. Based on what they learned, they contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, as the victim attended school in Collier County.
Their investigation determined the abuse happened in Lehigh Acres, so the investigation was turned over to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Information was uncovered that led to the arrest of the defendant for past molestation of the child victim.
Assistant State Attorney Christine Cummins, of the Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.
