Cocaine Trafficker Convicted

A cocaine trafficker, arrested during a NETFORCE operation, has been convicted. Baldomero Alanis Jr. has been found guilty as charged of Trafficking in Cocaine (400 Grams or More) following a one-day trial in Lee County.

The defendant was part of a drug smuggling operation involved in bringing cocaine from Texas to Southwest Florida. The defendant pretended to be operating a legitimate business, a shipping company, that supposedly delivered fruit and other commodities but used a semi to drive kilos of cocaine to Florida.

The extensive investigation was handled by the many law enforcement partners that make up NETFORCE which include local, state, and federal agencies. Assistant State Attorney Kate Rumley, Chief of Narcotics, prosecuted the case.

NETFORCE was formed by State Attorney Amira Fox in conjunction with law enforcement agency partners, to coordinate a circuit-wide approach to infiltrating and dismantling drug trafficking organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money-laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida.
