Conviction in Collier County Shooting Case

Shawndell Deandre McCann Joseph has been found guilty as charged for a 2023 shooting case in Collier County. The conviction follows a four-day trial.

The defendant was convicted of:

Shoot At/Within or Into a Dwelling/Building

Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence

Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling.

Resisting/Obstruction of an Officer without Violence

The shooting occurred at an East Naples apartment complex. The defendant fled the crime scene but was founding hiding nearby by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

This case violated the defendant’s probation in a case from 2012, in which the defendant committed an armed robbery. There was a violation of probation hearing in February 2024 and the defendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Since the defendant is a prison releasee reoffender, he will be sentenced to a minimum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on this new case. Sentencing is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
