Possession of a Controlled Substance Leads to Prison

Kyle Joseph Pickrell has been sentenced to 60 months in prison after being convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The drugs were found in his possession while being processed into the Lee County Jail.

A jury returned the guilty verdict Thursday evening following a one-day trial in Lee County. Sentencing was held immediately after. Assistant State Attorneys Zachary Haefeli and Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.

The case started on August 10, 2024, on Del Prado Boulevard, in Cape Coral. People driving along that road called police after seeing a man and woman arguing on the sidewalk. The Cape Coral Police Department responded. The argument had remained just verbal but after running his name, police discovered the defendant had an out of county warrant for a probation violation in Charlotte County.

He was transported to jail and while being searched, a small plastic baggie, containing white residue, was found wrapped in a gum wrapper, in the defendant’s sock. The substance tested positive for Methamphetamine.
