This morning, Jirarojn Madselee was convicted of Shooting At or Into a Building and Criminal Mischief. The case involved the defendant firing shots at a business he had recently been fired from.
The jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial in Charlotte County. Assistant State Attorney Tracy Detzel prosecuted the case.
The crime happened in March 2023 at a used car lot in Port Charlotte. The defendant had been fired and started posting concerning statements on social media. Two days after the firing, an employee at the car lot was coming to work and saw what appeared to be bullet holes in the front window of the building. They immediately called the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found three shell casings outside of the business and a bullet hole in the door of one of the cars on the lot. The investigation led to the arrest of the defendant. He admitted committing the crime during an interview with deputies.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 28, 2025.
