State Attorney Amira Fox has been named the President of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association (FPAA). The gavel was passed at an event this week at the FPAA 2025 Summer Education Training Program at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs. State Attorney Fox has served as Vice President of the FPAA since 2023.
Amira joins Janet Reno, former State Attorney of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and former Attorney General of the United States, as the only women ever to serve as President of the FPAA.
The FPAA is a non-profit corporation whose members are the 20 elected State Attorneys and more than 2000 Assistant State Attorneys. The FPAA was created to serve the needs of prosecutors and to offer education through seminars, publications, and technical support.
State Attorney Fox was elected to office as State Attorney in November 2018, becoming the third State Attorney and first female State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit. The Circuit covers Charlotte, Collier, Lee, Glades, and Hendry counties.
Since becoming State Attorney, she has created a Cold Case Homicide Unit leading to the identification, arrest, and charges filed against 24 defendants in 20 murder cases.
State Attorney Fox also formed NETFORCE, in conjunction with law enforcement partners, coordinating a circuitwide approach to infiltrating and dismantling drug trafficking organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money-laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida. Successful NETFORCE operations have led to the arrest of dozens of defendants and massive quantities of illegal narcotics taken off the streets, as well illegal firearms.
State Attorney Fox also puts a focus on stopping child sexual exploitation and human trafficking most notably through The Southwest Florida Inter-Agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking Task Force (INTERCEPT). This collaboration of federal, state, and local law enforcement allows a swift multi-agency response to these crimes and has launched many investigations.
As State Attorney she continues to prosecute cases, including major homicide cases, throughout the circuit.
Among Amira’s many honors, she currently serves on the Executive Council of the National District Attorney’s Association; she is a member of the Florida Supreme Court’s Criminal Court Steering Committee and the Florida Supreme Court’s Steering Committee on Problem Solving Courts. Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Amira to serve on the Florida Medical Examiner’s Commission and the Governor appointed Amira as a Commissioner to the Sixth District Court of Appeals Judicial Nominating Commission.
Locally, Amira is a member of the Fort Myers Rotary Club and serves as a board member to both the Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples and the PACE Center for Girls. Her husband, Mike, served the Collier County Sheriff’s Office with distinction for over 30 years. They have four children.
