George Samuel Broughton, 49 years old, was convicted today by a Lee County jury for Conspiracy to Traffic in Fentanyl – 28 Grams or More. The jury returned the guilty verdict late this afternoon after a multi-day trial in Circuit Court.
This conviction is a result of the first NETFORCE investigation, Operation Block Party, from 2020. Broughton was identified almost immediately during the investigation as a drug trafficker along with his co-conspirator, Barry White. White is currently in prison.
Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney John W. Dommerich, Jr. and Assistant State Attorney Natalie Savino, Chief of the Hendry County Felony Division, prosecuted the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 22, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Florida law requires that the defendant will serve, at a minimum, 25 years in prison and is not eligible for any early release until 25 years is served.
NETFORCE was formed by State Attorney Amira Fox in conjunction with law enforcement agency partners to coordinate a circuit-wide approach to infiltrating and dismantling drug trafficking organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money-laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida.
