Murder Conviction

Andrew Brantley Perkins was convicted of Second-Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder following a five-day trial in Lee County.

Assistant State Attorney Hamid Hunter, of the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.

On April 28, 2024, the defendant got into an argument, at the end of his driveway, with a local man, who had pulled over in a pick-up truck. As the man, along with a passenger, drove away, the defendant shot at them multiple times with a rifle, killing the driver. The passenger escaped with minor injuries.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded and found the victim dead in the driver’s seat.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 8, 2025.
