Grand Jury Indictment

State Attorney Amira Fox convened the Lee County Grand Jury and they have returned an indictment against Yohani Gonzalez De Lazaro for the following: two counts of First-Degree Murder – Capital Felony, two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder – Life Felony, and one count of Shooting at, within, or into a Building – Second Degree Felony.  

Two people were shot to death during the crime at a home in Lehigh Acres and two others survived.

The indictment reads in part on Count I – First Degree Murder: On or about June 14, 2023 in Lee County, Florida, the defendant did unlawfully, from a premeditated design to effect the death of a human being, or while engaged in the perpetration of, or in the attempt to perpetrate a burglary with the intent to commit an offense therein, to wit: homicide or aggravated battery or aggravated assault or an offense other than burglary or trespass, kill and murder the victims, by shooting them with a firearm, and during the commission of the offense did carry, display, use, threaten to use, or attempt to use any weapon or firearm, and during the commission of the offense did actually possess a firearm, did discharge a firearm, and as a result of the discharge, death or great bodily harm was inflicted upon the victims and while committing the offense, did wear a hood, mask, or other device concealing his identity.

“I want to thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional investigation of this crime and I want to thank the Lee County Grand Jury for their focus on the details of this case,” said State Attorney Fox.

“I hope this indictment helps the family and friends of the victims and the survivors on their path toward healing from the horrendous events of the day,” said State Attorney Fox.
