Zachary Clayton Human, of Lehigh Acres, was convicted of Criminal Solicitation and two counts of Tampering with a Witness, Victim, or Informant. The jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial in Lee County.
In 2024, the defendant was arrested for selling drugs in Lee County. He looked through documents in his case and then solicited a witness to kill a detective and a confidential informant, who were involved. That witness contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about the plot.
The defendant wanted the detective shot and killed and wanted the confidential informant to be given an overdose of drugs.
Deputies located the defendant in Cape Coral, driving on a suspended license. He was taken into custody following a traffic stop.
Assistant State Attorney Olivia Ferrell and Assistant State Attorney Jonathan Howser prosecuted the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 2, 2026.
