Jonas Lied Aracena, of Cape Coral, was found guilty as charged of Familial or Custodial Sexual Battery, Providing Obscene Material to Minors, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation and 10 counts of Child Pornography, plus all special findings. The jury returned the verdict just after 5 p.m. Thursday evening, following a three-day trial in Lee County.
Assistant State Attorneys Stephen Hawley and Christine Cummins, both of the Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.
Between July 2020 and December 2023, the defendant molested the child victim on multiple occasions at a Cape Coral residence. He also showed the child victim child pornography and videos of adults engaging in sex with animals. The child victim told an adult who immediately contacted law enforcement. The Cape Coral Police Department investigated the case.
Evidence introduced at trial were the details of a search warrant served by Cape Coral Police at the defendant’s home. A computer and phone were seized, and a digital forensic examination was done on the devices. A large volume of child pornography was found on the computer, including a video depicting a toddler being molested.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
