Lorenzo Brown, a drug trafficker, was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, with a $250,000 fine, for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine 400 grams or more and Trafficking in Cocaine 400 grams or more, to run concurrently. He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine for Conspiracy to Traffic in Cannabis 25 pounds or more, to run concurrently.
The defendant was convicted in June, following a six-day trial in Collier County. The defendant was arrested following a long-term undercover wiretap investigation into drug trafficking in Southwest Florida. The defendant was the hub of the local cocaine and marijuana distribution network into the area and the main source of supply for a significant number of high-level dealers.
The defendant was one of more than two dozen people arrested in 2020 in Operation Perrydise, that spanned from Lee to Collier County. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation into the case involving this defendant. This case was also worked in conjunction with the NETFORCE task force.
Assistant State Attorney Kate Phillips, Narcotics Unit Chief, and Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson prosecuted the case.
The defendant is a life-long Collier County resident who procured multiple kilograms of cocaine and pounds of marijuana from sources of supply on the East Coast of Florida. For his cocaine operation, the defendant used a drug mule to travel with him to the other coast regularly to purchase kilos of cocaine and then the drug mule would drive the drugs back to Naples in his car. He had the marijuana delivered to Naples from the East Coast.
NETFORCE was formed by State Attorney Fox, in conjunction with law enforcement partners, to form a circuit wide approach to infiltrating and dismantling drug traffic organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida. NETFORCE includes local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies working together on investigations.
