Cedric Hagerty Patterson was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of Sex Offender Probation, for one count of Lewd or Lascivious Battery. He was sentenced as
a Habitual Felony Offender. He was convicted following a trial in November.
The crime was discovered in April 2021, when the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Investigations Section of the Naples Jail Center, noticed inappropriate correspondence between an inmate and an individual. The defendant was in jail on an unrelated charge. He was making phone calls and sending emails, referencing sexual contact when the individual was a child. The person he was contacting was the victim.
The Special Victims Section was contacted and an investigation began. The suspect was interviewed and admitted to the crime involving a child.
Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Brown and Assistant State Attorney Lawrence Raab prosecuted the case.
