30 Years in Prison for Murder Plot to Kill Detective and a Confidential Informant

Zachary Clayton Human was sentenced to 30 years in prison followed by 30 years of probation, for Criminal Solicitation and two counts of Tampering with a Witness, Victim, or Informant. The defendant solicited a person to kill a detective and a confidential informant.

Assistant State Attorney Olivia Ferrell, of the State Attorney’s Office Narcotics Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Jonathan Howser prosecuted the case. The defendant was convicted in January following a jury trial in Lee County.

In 2024, the defendant was arrested for selling drugs in Lee County. He looked through documents in his case and then solicited a witness to kill two people involved in his case. The defendant wanted a detective shot and killed and wanted a confidential informant to be given an overdose of drugs.

The witness contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about the plot.

Deputies located the defendant in Cape Coral, driving on a suspended license. He was taken into custody following a traffic stop.
