Harry Thompson was sentenced to 45 years in prison for Robbery with a Firearm and 114 months in prison for three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, to be served concurrently, for robbing a Port Charlotte arcade. He was convicted following a trial in October.
Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Garczewski and Assistant State Attorney Dennis Wallace prosecuted the case.
The crime happened in May 2024. The defendant walked into an arcade on U.S. 41, wearing a mask and gloves. He approached the cashier, pulled out a gun, and demanded money. There were three other victims, two customers, and an employee who was there to clean. He ordered everyone around while holding the gun. He then ran out of the back of the arcade and drove away.
The cashier recognized the man’s voice, as a regular customer at the business, but did not know his name. Surveillance video from a home was able to link the defendant to the car that had been used to leave the scene of the crime.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation.
