Another Prison Sentence for Fentanyl Drug Trafficker Currently in Prison

Stephanie Leann Proffitt was convicted this afternoon of drug trafficking, following a jury trial in Lee County, and immediately sentenced to prison. She was sentenced to 9 years in the Florida Department of Corrections for Trafficking in Fentanyl – 4 Grams or More and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Assistant State Attorney Christine Cummins, of the State Attorney’s Office Narcotics Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Janesha Beckford prosecuted the case.

This sentence will run consecutive to the 30-year prison sentence she is currently serving after being convicted in December 2023 by our office, for numerous drug charges, including trafficking Fentanyl.

Today’s conviction stems from a traffic stop conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on October 10, 2023, in Cape Coral. The stop resulted in the defendant, a passenger in the vehicle, being found to be in possession of Fentanyl and Oxycodone.

The driver of the vehicle has a pending case awaiting trial.
