William Michael Teany was convicted of Familial or Custodial Sexual Battery on a Child Older than 12 Years of Age, but Younger than 18 Years of Age. The jury returned the guilty verdict, including a special finding of penetration, following a three-day trial in Lee County.
Assistant State Attorneys Adam Sullivan and Erin Hughes prosecuted the case.
The crime happened in July 2022 at a home in Lehigh Acres. The defendant sexually battered the child victim when they were left in his care while their parents were out of town. The victim immediately told an adult and law enforcement was contacted. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 2, 2025.
