Jamal Anthony Soto has been found guilty as charged of Aggravated Battery -Person Over 65 Years of Age and Battery on Person Over 65 Years of Age. A Lee County jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial.
Assistant State Attorney Thomas Guthrie and Assistant State Attorney Christine Cummins prosecuted the case.
On July 22, 2022, the two elderly victims were attacked at an apartment complex, in the middle of the afternoon. A person who happened to be near, contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement swiftly responded. Deputies were able to locate the defendant and arrest him, while he was still in the area.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2024.
