This afternoon, Michael Brock was found guilty as charged of Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Dealing in Stolen Property, and False Verification of Ownership/Identification to a Pawn
Broker. The jury deliberated for 18 minutes following a one-day trial in Lee County.
In May 2020, the defendant broke into a home in Lehigh Acres by going through a window. A 13-year-old boy was home alone. When the teen heard the man breaking in, he ran out of the house to safety. Brock then stole an X-Box game system and controller and fled. He pawned the stolen items, the victim’s Christmas presents, two hours later. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crime scene.
The item was pawned on May 6th. A detective investigating the burglary went to the pawn shop on May 11th. While there a worker pointed out that the defendant was in the store. The detective then confronted Brock. He was brought into the Lee County Sheriff’s Office from the pawn shop and confessed to the crime during an interview.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 27th. Assistant State Attorney Nicholas Alberto prosecuted the case.
