Darrell Leon Sanders was convicted of Trafficking in Substituted Cathinones, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, following a trial in Lee County.
Assistant State Attorney Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.
The defendant was pulled over by a Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy on September 23, 2024, after he made an illegal turn near Colonial Boulevard. He could not provide a driver’s license and was driving on a suspended license. He was asked to step out of the vehicle.
When the door opened, the deputy saw a baggie of drugs in the driver’s side door and while being searched, multiple baggies were found in the defendant’s pocket. The drugs tested positive for Substituted Cathinones.
Sentencing has not been scheduled yet.
