Drug Trafficker Sentenced

Drug trafficker James Kirts was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to prison in three drug cases in Charlotte County.

He was sentenced to 8 years in prison for Trafficking by Possession in Methamphetamine (14 grams or more). He was sentenced as a Habitual Felony Offender (HFO) and ordered to pay a $50,000 fine. He was sentenced to 60 months in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance. In this case, in 2023, he was pulled over by Charlotte County Sheriff’s Deputies. During a search of the van he had been driving, deputies found a baggie of methamphetamine inside of a box, syringes, a scale, and more baggies.

He was also sentenced to 96 months in prison as an HFO, for a 2024 case, for Driving While License Suspended as a Habitual Traffic Offender. He was sentenced to 60 months for Possession of a Controlled Substance. He had methamphetamine in his motorcycle, found during a traffic stop in Charlotte County.

In another 2024 Charlotte County drug case, he also received a 96-month prison sentence, for Sale or Delivery of Methamphetamine as an HFO and 60 months in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent. In that case he sold drugs to a confidential informant.

All of the prison sentences will run concurrently.
