This afternoon, Juan Manuel Correa Pina, was found guilty as charged of Sexual Battery on a Child Less than 12, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Attempted Sexual
Battery on a Child Less than 12. The jury returned the guilty verdict following a three-day trial in Collier County.
The crimes were reported by the victim to a family member, who contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in June 2021. Their investigation led to information that the defendant molested the young victim, over the course of several years, in Immokalee. The defendant had since moved to Texas.
During the investigation, the defendant informed the family of the victim, that he was driving back to Collier County and wanted to see them again.
The defendant drove to the residence and the Collier County Sheriff’s office was called. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the defendant never had a valid driver’s license. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Assistant State Attorney Lawrence Raab and Assistant State Attorney Deborah Cunningham, Collier County Felony Chief, prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2023.
