Samuel Clarence Redd, Jr., 32, of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty of False Imprisonment with a Firearm and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Person 65 Years of Age or Older. The jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial in Lee County.
The crime happened on October 1, 2022, at a residence in Lehigh Acres. The defendant bound a person in the home with electrical cords and duct tape. He then put them on the ground and pointed a gun at their head. He threatened them to not move, or he would shoot them. He also brandished the gun to a second person in the home.
After a couple of hours, the victim was cut loose and both people left the house. Law enforcement was contacted. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded and found the defendant alone at the home. A search warrant was served and the gun was found hidden in the hollow of a door. Duct tape and knotted up electrical cords were found in the trash. The defendant was then arrested.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 28, 2023.
Assistant State Attorney Marilla Shoemaker prosecuted the case.
