Guilty Verdict in Drug Case

William Edward Bishoff has been convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia. The jury returned the guilty verdict this afternoon, following a two-day trial in Charlotte County.

Assistant State Attorney Caitlin Sorenson prosecuted the case.

On March 13, 2024, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a car that was speeding on Tamiami Trail. The driver provided his driver’s license and rental paperwork as he was driving a rented car. The driver, identified as the defendant, William Bishoff, had an active warrant out of Sarasota County and was on probation, so he was taken into custody.

A search of the defendant revealed a syringe and two containers. One had a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Inside the vehicle, there was another container with a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe, found behind the driver’s seat.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 18, 2024.
