Life in Prison for Molestation

Yosvind Alecsay Bernardo Maldonado has been adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison, for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. He was convicted in October, following a jury trial in Lee County.

Assistant State Attorney Anastasia Snetkova prosecuted the case.

On October 31, 2023, Fort Myers Police responded to a residence in reference to a sex offense. Officers met with the child victim, who said she was molested by the defendant in her bed. She woke up during the crime and was able to identify him.

Officers arrived at the residence minutes after the crime occurred and spotted the defendant through a window. The defendant initially closed the curtains on police. He was asked to step outside and taken into custody.

While being interviewed by detectives, the defendant made excuses to why he was outside the child’s room. He did not confess to the crime. However, he made several unusual statements, such as that if he had been intoxicated, he would have done it. He also admitted that he did drink multiple beers.
