Life in Prison for Robbery with a Firearm

Terry Smith was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison for Robbery with a Firearm, as a prison releasee reoffender. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for Possession
of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The defendant was convicted in October, at trial in Charlotte County. Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson and Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Garczewski, Charlotte County Circuit Court Chief, prosecuted the case.

The case involves a robbery that occurred on November 29, 2014. The defendant came up to a man driving a propane truck as he stopped to make a delivery at a gas station in Port Charlotte.

Smith was carrying a gun and demanded the driver give him cash. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and a warrant was issued for the defendant. He was located and arrested in 2019 for the crime.
