Prison Sentence for Conspiracy to Traffic Meth and Cocaine

Idris Kennord Walters, arrested during a NETFORCE operation, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced on two drug trafficking charges this morning. The defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison for Conspiracy to Traffic in Methamphetamine – 28 grams or more and fined $50,000. The defendant was also ordered to pay court costs and the cost of prosecution.

The defendant was also sentenced to 15 years in prison, and must serve all 15 years as a minimum/mandatory required sentence, for Conspiracy to Traffic in Cocaine – 400 grams or more. Walters was ordered to pay a $250,000 fine, court costs and the cost of prosecution. The sentences are to be served concurrently.

On both counts, the defendant was ordered to pay $800,000 to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for the cost of the investigation and $988,247 to the Fort Myers Police Department for the cost of their investigation, jointly, with all other co-defendants.

Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney John W. Dommerich, Jr. and Assistant State Attorney Natalie Savino, Hendry/Glades County Circuit Court Chief, prosecuted the cases.

Walters was arrested following an extensive investigation by NETFORCE, the first, called Operation Block Party, in 2020.

NETFORCE was formed by State Attorney Amira Fox in conjunction with law enforcement agency partners to coordinate a circuit-wide approach to infiltrating and dismantling drug trafficking organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money-laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida.
