Prison Sentence in Cocaine Case

Freddie King has been adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison for Possession of Cocaine and sentenced to 364 days in jail, to run concurrently, for Possession
of Paraphernalia. He was sentenced Wednesday evening, immediately after a jury returned a guilty verdict.

On January 28, 2023, Fort Myers Police pulled over a vehicle when the officer noticed the occupants of the vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts. After the driver provided documents to run database checks, one officer noticed the driver scraping his heel along the floorboard. A K-9 Officer and his partner Nitro were called to the scene. Nitro alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.

A search revealed a nicotine gum case and a prescription pill bottle, both containing drug residue, in the driver’s side door pocket. There was also a torn portion of a plastic baggie on the driver’s side floorboard, next to a white streak along the floor, near a rock of crack cocaine.

Assistant State Attorney John Humphreville and Assistant State Attorney Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.
