Clifton Lemanz Seawright, 39, of Fort Myers, was found guilty as charged of Aggravated Assault. The jury returned the guilty verdict following a two-day trial in Fort Myers.
The crime happened on January 13, 2022. The victim was dropping off his child, at the home of the child’s mother, in Fort Myers. The defendant was in the driveway of the residence and confronted the victim, starting a verbal argument. The victim minimally responded to the defendant and got in his car to leave. The defendant then took, what the victim believed to be a black firearm, out of the trunk of another vehicle, and pointed it at him.
The victim was able to place his vehicle in revers e and drive away. He immediately contacted the Fort Myers Police Department. Officers went to the scene and found a black B.B. gun made by Glock, the gun manufacturer, in the defendant’s vehicle, leading to Seawright’s arrest.
Assistant State Attorney Leena Marcos and Assistant State Attorney Taryn Vaughn prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for December 27, 2022.
