Amanda Cook was convicted of Second-Degree Murder, following a four-day trial in Collier County.
Assistant State Attorney Sabsina Karimi, Collier County Court Chief, and Assistant State Attorney Mara Marzano, of the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.
In 2019, the defendant attacked her roommate, using a 9-pound cast iron microphone stand to bludgeon the victim to death. The attack happened in a home in North Naples. Following the attack, the defendant left the scene and drove to her mother’s home, which was nearby. They then both returned to the scene of the crime and the defendant’s mother called 911.
The victim’s DNA was found on the base of the microphone stand and the defendant’s fingerprint was found just above the base of the stand. The defendant’s DNA was also found on the top of the stand.
During the trial, the Medical Examiner, testified that the injuries the victim sustained were similar to injuries he sees in high impact car crashes.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crime.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2026.
