Conviction in Grand Theft and Forged Bills Case

Dalvin Devon Battle, of Lee County, was convicted of Grand Theft over $750 and Uttering Forged Bills, following a two-day trial in Collier County. The jury returned the guilty verdict this morning.

Assistant State Attorneys Deanna Berman and Nicholas Morlock prosecuted the case.

In April 2024, the defendant attempted to cash altered checks. He had business checks from an excavating company that appeared to be payable to him. He went to several locations of the same bank and attempted to cash one of the checks in Collier County.

Bank workers thought the attempted transactions were suspicious and contacted the company whose name was on the check. They found out the checks had actually been made out to an auto parts store and a phone company, not the defendant.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 1, 2025.
