State Attorney’s Office Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Event

The State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit is hosting the 16th Annual State Attorney’s Office Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Softball Tournament this Saturday, April 14th at the CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers next to Hammond Stadium. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. and opening ceremonies start at 8 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Law enforcement officers from throughout Southwest Florida will be competing in the softball tournament on 4 different fields throughout the day vying for an Upper and Lower Division Champion title. Trophies will be awarded to the winning agencies.

At noon, the softball games will pause for the start of an event within the event, the first State Attorney’s Office Home Run Derby. Competitors will see who can hit the ball out of the park. The top three home run hitters will then go head to head in a play-off for the title of 2018 SAO Home Run Champion.

The day is designated by State Attorney Steve Russell to be a day where all of those in law enforcement who attend can relax with their families and have some friendly competition on the field.

Following the home run derby, the softball tournament will continue. Games are expected to end by 5 p.m. There will also be carnival games for children, face painting and great food. All of the proceeds from this event benefit Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
