10 Year Prison Sentence in Elder Exploitation Case

This afternoon in Collier County, Elizabeth Dean was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation, in an elder exploitation case. She was adjudicated guilty of Criminal Use of Personal Identification, $50,000 or more and Exploitation of an Elderly Person over $50,000. The defendant was also ordered to pay $130,896 in restitution.

The defendant, who was employed by the victim, took the victim’s debit card and made unauthorized purchases. The defendant also pawned numerous items of jewelry, including items that had been in the victim’s family for many generations.

Dean was arrested in 2023, after an investigation by the Naples Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Jessica Horowitz, of the State Attorney’s Office Economic Crimes Unit.
