Raul Colon Ocasio has been adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison for human trafficking crimes in Charlotte County. The crimes were first reported when the defendant offered a teenage victim marijuana, vapes and nicotine in exchange for the child performing sexual acts on the defendant. The victim contacted law enforcement, and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation.
An FBI Task Force that includes Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, joined the case. One detective with the FBI Task Force utilized the teenage victim’s Instagram account, assuming her identity when interacting online with the defendant, and arranged for a meetup. The defendant went to the location thinking he was meeting the victim, but instead was met by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Task Force and arrested.
Through the initial investigation, detectives discovered the defendant was victimizing 6 other girls in Charlotte County in the same, or a similar way. The crimes happened in 2022 and 2023.
