Arcade Robbery Conviction

Harry Thompson was convicted of Robbery – Possessing a Firearm and three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, for robbing a Port Charlotte arcade. A jury returned the guilty verdict this morning, following a three-day trial in Charlotte County.

Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Garczewski and Assistant State Attorney Dennis Wallace prosecuted the case.

In May 2024, the defendant walked into an arcade on U.S. 41, wearing a mask and gloves. He approached the cashier, pulled out a gun, and demanded money. There were three other victims, two customers, and an employee who was there to clean. He ordered everyone around while holding the gun. He then ran out of the back of the arcade and drove away.

The cashier recognized the man’s voice, as a regular customer at the business, but did not know his name. Surveillance video from a home was able to link the defendant to the car that had been used to leave the scene of the crime.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office located the defendant and arrested him.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 1, 2025.
