Brian Allen Lee, 28, of Moore Haven, was found guilty as charged of Criminal Mischief (less than $200), Burglary of a Dwelling, and Possession of Burglary Tools by a Glades County jury following a two day trial.
In March 2017 Lee cut the screen of a screened-in porch to break into a Moore Haven home. Once on the porch, he then tried to get into a door which lead to the living room but he set off the home’s alarm system. Startled, he fled and left the scene on his bicycle.
Glades County Sheriff deputies responded to the home after receiving a call from the alarm company. They were able to get a description of Lee and review surveillance video from the company. Deputies then located a person matching Lee’s description on a bicycle nearby. Lee admitted he was at the home but said he was supposed to be meeting a friend. He had various burglary tools with him including pliers, screwdrivers, and blue latex gloves.
Lee faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing on May 29th.
