Charlotte County Grand Jury Indicts Ryan Clayton Cole

State Attorney Amira Fox and Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell announce that today the Charlotte County Grand Jury indicted Ryan Clayton Cole for First Degree Murder, First Degree Burglary with Battery, and Burglary of a Dwelling.

Cole is formally charged with murdering a 15-year-old boy during the commission of a burglary at a Port Charlotte home on September 26, 2019. During the perpetration of the burglary the defendant allegedly stabbed the young teen to death. He then allegedly burglarized a second residence and was discovered by the homeowner.

“I hope today’s indictment and ensuing prosecution brings some small solace to a family suffering unimaginable pain and heartache,” said State Attorney Fox.

Today’s indictment is the culmination of a thorough and exhaustive investigation by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Shannon Doolity and Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Garczewski will be prosecuting the case.
