The State Attorney’s office provided the documents involving the Punta Gorda Police Department shooting from one law enforcement agency to another for law enforcement purposes only. The attached letter confirms this.
As far as public record regarding this incident, the State Attorney’s Office will, as always, abide by applicable law to ensure the integrity of the pending criminal cases.
We are aware that the City of Punta Gorda, through their hired public relations firm, Bulldog Strategy Group, has widely disseminated the case and substantial parts of the reports. Regardless of this action, the State Attorney’s Office will endeavor to properly litigate these cases in the criminal justice system.
