Michael Duran has been convicted of Trafficking in Amphetamine 200 grams or more and Possession of Paraphernalia. The jury returned the guilty verdict this afternoon, following a two-day trial in Collier County. The defendant was then remanded into custody. Sentencing is scheduled for September 28, 2026.
Assistant State Attorney Brian Ashby prosecuted the case.
The crime happened on September 11, 2024. A Collier County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Camaro near the intersection of 23rd Street SW and White Boulevard. The car pulled over and the defendant was in the driver’s seat. Coller County Sheriff’s Office K9 Thor was with the deputy and alerted to drugs in the vehicle.
Behind the driver’s seat was a postal service box that was partially open and a crystal substance was in plain view. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine. There was nearly one pound of the drugs inside.
