A man who preyed upon a victim while they were sleeping in their own bed, Jonte Andreiz Luis Beerbower, has been convicted of Sexual Battery.
The jury returned the guilty verdict shortly before 9 p.m. last night. Assistant State Attorneys Adam Sullivan and Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.
The crime happened in North Fort Myers in 2023. The defendant had been visiting a friend and while at their home, he snuck into the victim’s room and committed the sex crime on the sleeping victim. The victim woke up during the crime but could not get the defendant to stop.
As soon as the defendant left, the victim contacted a family member and law enforcement. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 9, 2025.
