Defendant Sentenced for Crimes Against a Child

Today Elgron Lamar Taylor, 52, pled guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by 15 years of Sex Offender Probation for one count each of Sexual Battery with Threat of Force on a Child Under the Age of 18 and Kidnapping. He also is now designated a Sexual Predator. The crime involved the kidnapping and sexual attack of a 15-year-old girl. The defendant entered the plea just before jury selection was getting underway for trial today in Lee County.

The crimes occurred during a two-day period in February of 2018 in Lehigh Acres. Taylor slowed down when he saw the girl walking and got her into his car. He took her to his home in Lehigh which had a detached garage. He pulled into the garage containing his collection of sports cars and took the girl to the attic above the garage where he sexually battered her.

Later the next morning, as he was driving her away from his property in the trunk of his car, she kicked her way out via the back seat and stumbled into the road. A neighbor who was pressure washing outside his home saw it happen and called 911. The defendant fled but then came back and got the girl into a work van. A second neighbor also saw this happen.

Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded to the scene. While they were on the way, the defendant let the girl go in a nearby wooded area and fled the scene. She yelled for help and deputies came to her aid. Other deputies stopped the van and took the defendant into custody.

Today’s plea alleviates the victim from having to face her attacker in court and relive what happened to her and also holds Taylor accountable for his crimes. Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo, Chief of the Special Victims Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Heather Fly prosecuted the case.
