Idris Kennord Walters has been convicted of Trafficking in Cocaine – 400 grams or more, following a trial in Collier County. The jury returned the verdict just after 5 p.m.

Narcotics Chief Assistant State Attorney Katherine Rumley and Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson prosecuted the case.

The Fort Myers Police Department and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with the partnership of NETFORCE. This case stemmed from NETFORCE Operation Block Party. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.

The defendant was arrested in 2020, on his way back from picking up a trafficking amount of cocaine on the East coast of Florida. The vehicle was under surveillance and as the car entered Collier County, a traffic stop was attempted on I-75. The car did not stop but the defendant threw cocaine out of the window. Stop sticks were then utilized by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to disable the vehicle’s tires. The defendant was later arrested as were two other co-defendants who are awaiting trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 16, 2025.

NETFORCE was formed by State Attorney Amira Fox, in conjunction with law enforcement agency partners, to coordinate a circuit-wide approach to dismantling drug trafficking organizations, organized crime, racketeering, and money laundering enterprises in Southwest Florida.
