A Lee County jury returned a guilty verdict on all 5 charges against defendant Stephanie Leann Proffitt, who is now a convicted drug trafficker. She was convicted of two counts of Trafficking in Dangerous Fentanyl or Fentanyl Analogues, and one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Place for Trafficking in or Sale of a Controlled Substance.
Assistant State Attorney Christine Cummins, of the State Attorney’s Office Narcotics Unit, prosecuted the case.
In October 2021, the defendant sold $560 worth of fentanyl and xylazine to a confidential informant and an undercover detective from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, from her home in Alva.
On November 4, 2021, a search warrant was executed at the home on Leavitt Road. Over 56 grams of fentanyl, also containing xylazine and para-fluorofentanyl, multiple scales, baggies and cutting agents were seized from the residence.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2024.
