He was found guilty of Trafficking in Cocaine – 28 Grams or More, Possession of Cannabis with Intent, Transportation of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer without Violence.

On August 19, 2020, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was doing surveillance. A Corporal, with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, initiated a traffic stop on a rental vehicle driven by the defendant, as he was pulling into his barbershop on Tamiami Trail. He stopped the car, jumped out and ran.

After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended. The defendant was searched and $6,754 in cash was found in his front pockets, along with a pouch containing approximately 18 grams of marijuana, and two cell phones. He was placed under arrest.

A subsequent search of the rental car revealed a digital scale in the front passenger door and two bags of marijuana in the center console. Behind the driver’s seat was a backpack with two large vacuum sealed bags inside containing 570 grams of marijuana and another bag which held 55 grams of cocaine.

Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for May 31, 2023.
