Colin Tardiff was sentenced to 17 years in prison for selling drugs in Charlotte County. He was convicted of Trafficking in Dangerous Fentanyl or Fentanyl Analogues and Sale or Deliver a Controlled Substance following a one-day trial in Charlotte County last week.
Following his conviction, the defendant did an open plea to the court for three other drug cases that involved cocaine, Oxycodone, and Xanax. An open plea is when a defendant gives up their right to a jury trial and pleas to the court for sentencing. It is not a plea agreement.
Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson prosecuted the case.
In 2024, the defendant arranged to sell Fentanyl to a buyer in Charlotte County. He did not know he was attempting to sell drugs to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Detective working undercover along with a confidential informant.
The defendant arranged a meeting to do the drug sale, in the parking lot of a popular restaurant in Charlotte County. He sold 7 1/2 grams of Fentanyl to the detective for $760. He was arrested shortly after.
